To Serve and Protect?
“No direction is correct , so any direction must be subject to sudden change . You must see and hear in every direction .” – Methelas (from the Eight Rules)
A form of unarmed combat created by a small group of true elf pilgrims who returned to the material plane Temerad is based on the movements of natural elements . Although elves are the primary uses of this art a master accepts students of any race so long as they are pure of heart and seek enlightenment not power . Temerad is a defensive style , countering each attack as striking simultaneously . Practitioners rarely use weapons . Temerad philosophy emphasizes humility and harmony with nature .
It is a source of great shame to the followers of Temerad that the only widely known member of their society is Mokujin the Dark Hand , a brutal man who feigned compliance with the ways of Temerad to learn the style , then betrayed and killed his master the sage Burokouzan – going on to gain infamy as a tyrannical warrior .
